My name is Chris Cannavo and I have been animating professionally for a long time. I have worked on various projects in film, video games, television, music videos, and commercials throughout my career. I have animated characters, animals, vehicles, objects, and cameras through hand-keyed, mocap, and rotomation animation techniques.

SKILLS

  • 3D animator for characters, animals, vehicles, cameras, and objects for film, television, video games, or across any project needed. 
  • Proficient in Maya, 3DS Max, Syntheyes, and Photoshop.
  • Working knowledge of Unreal Engine, Unity, ZBrush, Premiere and Nuke.
  • Good working practices, naming conventions, scene/ rig organization, task management. 
  • Experience with motion capture from additive/ enhancement animation, clean up, recording, direction, and even acting. 
  • Works well with teams and can communicate with different departments.
  • Can lead a team and give tasks to keep the project running according to schedule.
  • Excel at creative problem solving if there are technical issues or a shot requires a creative approach to get finished. 
  • Used to collaborating directly with vfx supervisors, directors, and show runners as well as taking notes for the team during the process.

DNEG- Previs Artist- Sept 2020 – Current

  • Matrix Resurrections, 65, Red One, Bullet Train
  • Set up, animate, and put together previs shots from Maya to Unreal and then comped in After Effects
  • Setting up multiple versions of each shot to show options for shot action and composition. 
  • Setting up Unreal scenes and shots for render. Often requiring fx, lighting changes, and creative problem solving.

Zoic Studios- 3D AnimatorOCT 2019 – June 2021

  • DC Legends of Tomorrow, The Good Place, Future Man- TV Series
    • Worked on previs and final animation of various TV projects.

Ingenuity Studios – Head of Animation- AUG 2010 – JULY 2019

  • Various film, tv, music video, and commercial projects including Get Out, Taylor Swift, Eminem, The Walking Dead, The Runaways, Parks and Rec
  • Started as an animator, worked my way up to being senior, to having my own team as lead, and ended up as Head of Animation.
  • Learned various other skills including rigging and matchmoving.
  • Lead a team from 3-6 people across various projects.
  • Responsible for teaching junior animators and artists animation techniques and other skills across our evolving pipeline.
